About the Author
Karin Stulz has extensive experience in the administrative professional field. Her career at Northern Michigan University began with a variety of full-time administrative professional positions. Karin is now the Assistant Professor-Office Information Systems at Northern Michigan University.

Kellie A. Shumack is an associate professor of instructional technology and a department head in the College of Education at Auburn Montgomery. She has worked as an administrative assistant and has taught at the secondary, community college, and university levels. Kellie has designed numerous college courses in both the online and face-to-face environments. She has authored multiple peer-reviewed journal articles, two textbooks, and several book chapters, and she has presented at over 40 professional conferences. Kellie was awarded the 2012 Auburn Montgomery College of Education Excellence in Teaching Award, received the 2010 Delta Pi Epsilon Outstanding Doctoral Research Award, and maintains a certificate to teach online courses at the postsecondary level.

Dr. Patsy J. Fulton-Calkins' experience in the field is extensive. Her past experience in the workplace includes working as an administrative professional for large corporations for six years. Early in her career, she completed the CPS certification. Her teaching experience includes over 13 years at the university, community college, and high school levels. In addition to her teaching experience, she has worked as an administrator in the following positions: • Chancellor of Oakland Community College (the chief executive officer), Oakland County, Michigan • President of Brookhaven College, Dallas, Texas • Vice-President of Instruction at El Centro College and Cedar Valley College, Dallas, Texas • Division Chairperson of Business and Social Science, Cedar Valley College, Dallas, Texas Her present position includes working with Tom Monaghan Associates, Inc. as a senior consultant in institutional advancement work with clients across the United States. Additionally, she is an adjunct professor at the university level. Her educational credentials include a B.B.A., an M.B.Ed., and a Ph.D. Honors include Outstanding Alumnus, University of North Texas; Transformational Leader in Community Colleges; Who's Who in America, Outstanding Woman in Management; Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International; Beta Gamma Sigma, National Honorary Business Fraternity; and Piper Professor.

Great information for studying for the CAP Exam. There is a newer edition out now. When studying for the CAP Exam you need various sources of information. If you don't understand something in one book, you might find a simpler explanation in another book. This was extremely helpful.

An Admin's Bible

I refer to this book as the 'bible' for administrative assistants because it is a comprehensive guide to knowledge that is essential for office proficiency. Anyone who is thinking of pursuing administrative work as a career or who is already working, will benefit by owning this book. It's a great precursor and a helpful aid to real-life work experience. It was the most important textbook I used to study for and pass the CAP (Certified Administrative Professional) exam.

I am very pleased with this purchase. This is the first book that I have purchased for my college textbooks. I like how instead of reading a link in the paper book and then having to get on the computer to look at it, all you have to do with the kindle version is click on the link and it automatically takes you there. I have had classmates actually go buy a kindle after seeing mine and how easy it is to use!

Clear Explanations of Financial Basics

This is an excellent guide to the basics of money and financing.
The book focuses on London as a financial center and the British finanacial system in general, making frequent comparisons to New York and global practices. However, as it describes financial basics I think the that it would be useful to people almost anywhere interested in understanding such basics as: interest rates, banking, shares, insurance, foreign exchange, etc.
I was most impressed by Coggan's clear explanations helped by historical descriptions, e.g. goldsmiths and silversmiths became the earliest bankers when they stored gold and silver in their safes for nervous citizens. Then, when they noticed that of all the gold and silver stored in their vaults only a small amount was required for withdrawal, and this amount was roughly matched by new deposits, the idea of lending the idle gold and silver was born. The earliest smiths were from Italy and did their business from wooden benches in the market places. The Italian for bench is "banco" and was corrupted into the English word "bank".... Suddenly at the hands of Coggan banking seems like a very human enterprise and becomes easy to understand.

Concise holistic overview of the financial markets

I read this book to see how others have attempted to a holistic descriptions of the market place. This is actually not bad. If you have a lot of work experience you may find it a little basic in parts.

As for my research, I like that it draws out a lot of the different players/financial systems/institutions that are involved. He does a decent job of articulating what motivates each area of finance. I would highly suggest this for those that are trying to learn the market environment. Though it's setting is to describe the UK, it actually is fairly accurate for the US as well. It is also useful in creating a framework for what is going on in finance, who the players are, and what drives them.

Great introduction to the basics

I bought this book about 5 years ago when I first got a job in the UK Financial Industry. It covers all the basics and you can start with little or no previous knowledge (I did!). To illustrate his point he includes examples of Indices, Exchange Rates, Unit Trust prices etc. from the Financial Times newspaper. It is easy to understand too. Can't recommend it highly enough.

This is an excellent Perry Mason story but the Kindle edition has numerous typographical errors. Does anyone proof read this stuff before making it available for purchase? This is inexcusable.

It is one of the most fantastic books I have ever read!!!

Erle Stanley Gardner is a wonderful author. He has created a case that splendered me, and freiends. I've read the book 6 times in two months because I can't get enough of it. It is one of the best in the "Perry Mason" series if you ask me. I couldn't think of a better gift for any mystery fan. It has everything; Mystery, thrills, espionage, comedy and romance

I love the Perry Mason series, with its fast-paced movement, bizarre twists, and (now) dated atmosphere. But this entry is weak. There are far too many characters, and the plot is extremely convoluted. Perry breaks the law 8 or 9 times without any justification, tarnishing his image of someone who is protecting justice and not just his clients. The result is that it is simply not as enjoyable as the best in the series. To call any of the novels "believable" would be a stretch, but this one is so far out of bounds that you simply stop taking it seriously. It is the only book in the series that I can remember having to push myself to finish. That is not a good sign for what should be escapist entertainment.
